24Colors 0.3.5 - Last "Maintenance" Update

This will be the final update I will be giving to the Legacy version before handing over the project to ghostglowdev.

Let's see what I have "promised" a year and a half ago from the 0.3.4a devlog.

0.3.4a's supposed promises:

What to expect for 0.3.4?

  • More levels (yet still somewhat incomplete)
  • Refined Tiles
  • Keybinds (yay!)
  • Fixed space bar giving you a higher jump than the supposed W key
  • Control hints at the bottom left of the screen

What might be coming in 0.3.5?

  • Even more levels
  • Redesigned Level Storing using JSON
  • Level Titles
  • Teleporter Tiles
  • Different music plays depending on the level properties
  • More music in the game soundtrack
  • Audio Settings
  • Save files

As you can see, most of the features have been crossed out. Let's see what really happened.

What actually came out:

  • Soundtrack parity with Pygame version
  • World editor and viewer, along with the option to import worlds into the game
  • Audio settings

What went into the Pygame version instead:

  • TMX level storing
  • Level Titles
  • Teleporter Tiles
  • Script Tiles (can trigger teleporter tiles, dialog, and music upon intersection with player)
  • More music

It has been fun working on this game, despite being messy in every aspect, but at least it's something I can look back on and learn from my mistakes to make better games.

Speaking of, I currently have some planned out game ideas that I may or may not turn them into full releases, so stay tuned for that in my youtube.
